Port Blair Municipal Council will be implementing Housing for All project under PradhanMantriAwasYojana for urban citizens between 2015-2022.
Eligible urban residents in the municipal area falling under the Economically Weaker Section category (those families earning an income of the less than Rs.3 Lakhs per year) and Low Income Group (those families earning an income of Rs.3 Lakhs to Rs.6 Lakhs per year) were requested to apply in the prescribed application form that are readily available in PBMC Office (at the reception in the ground floor) or from the office of the councilors of their wards. The eligible beneficiaries would be supported by the scheme under different models of housing permitted by the scheme. The eligible beneficiaries are the people living in the slum areas and the urban poor of Portblair belonging to economically weaker section (EWS) and low income group (LIG) who will be provided support for construction of proper house under various sub-schemes.
For this purpose, economically weaker section would mean family having less than Rs.3.00 lakh annual income and LIG would mean family having above Rs. 3.00 lac but less than Rs. 6.00 lakh annual income.
Another important eligibility conditions that the applicant family should not have a pucca house in anywhere in the country. Family in this regard, would include husband, wife and unmarried children.
To enable better coverage of the scheme and to pass on the benefits of the housing scheme to the eligible urban poor, PBMC in its special meeting held on 28th November 2015 has resolved to extend the last date of receiving application from the eligible applicants till 31st December 2015. PBMC requests the eligible urban residents to apply and avail the benefits under this scheme.
