Port Blair, Nov 16: Due to repair of one 2.5 MW DG set of Chatham Power House, Electricity Department from grid, the availability of power has been restricted. Hence, the Electricity Department will exercise approximately 45 minutes rotational load shedding between 5.15 pm to 9 pm in an around Port Blair and South Andaman area from Nov 17, 2015 onwards till rectification of defects as per schedule.
The quantum and duration of load shedding during evening hours could be totally avoided, if the general public, the consumers and all other govt. & private establishment cooperate with the department by voluntarily reducing the use of Air conditioner, motors and other high power consumption equipments during peak hours i.e. 1715 hrs. to 2100 hrs. so that the wastage is reduced and the department is able to meet its peak demand within the existing generation and also requested to operate their standby DG set during the peak hours.
All consumers have been requested to use barest minimum electrical equipments especially during evening peak hours from 5.15 pm to 9 pm. The commercial establishments must stop using halogen lights in their shops & boarding’s and switch-off all such lights which are not basically required.
As per schedule, load-shedding will be exercised at Haddo, Buniyadabad, Foreshore road from 5.15 pm to 6 pm, at Shadipur, South Point, Mazaar Pahad, Machi Line, RGT Road, Govt. Press and JNRM College from 6 pm to 6.45 pm, at Gurudwara Lane, Biggi Lane, Anthropological Museum Middle Point, Link Road, VIP Road, Police Line, part of Junglighat, Dairy Farm Junction, Lamba Line, Ranchi Tekery, School Line complete & part of Minnie Bay from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm, at Garacharama Sub Station, Japan Nallah, Austinabad, Prothrapur, Carbyn’s Cove, Brichgunj, Brookshabad & part of Chakkargoan from 7.30 pm to 8.15 pm, at Rajasthan Mandir, ALWH Colony, Hawaghar Jn., Dudh Line, Nayagaon, Bargat Line, GPRA Colony & Carbyn’s Junction from 8.15 pm to 9 pm from Nov 17-20, 2015.
Power-cuts will also be exercised at BSNL Telephone Exchange, Prem Nagar, Goalghar, Carmel School area, KV-I area & Murdakhari area from 5.15 pm to 6 pm, at Light House, Phoenix Bay, Fisheries Jetty area, Anarkali, Delanipur, Quarry Hill, Phongy Kyaung, Foreshore Road, Megapode, Teal House, Horticulture Road from 6 pm to 6.45 pm, at at Bhatu Basti complete, Laxmi Motor Area, Pathergudda, Setlite Colony & New Pahargaon from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm, at Garacharama, Dollygunj, Attompahar, Old Pahargaon, ICMR Colony area, part of Minnie Bay from 7.30 pm to 8.15 pm and at AIR, DDK Colony, part of Delanipur, part of Prem Nagar, Coast Guard Enclave, Coast Guard HQ, Coast Guard Jetty, Panipath Road from 8.15 pm to 9 pm from Nov 18-21, 2015.
Similarly, areas like CARI, AKT Miniplex, Bird Line, Calicut, Kamaraj Nagar, Beodnabad, Rangachang, Burmanallah & Chidiyatapu will experience power-cuts from 5.15 pm to 6 pm, in parts of Junglighat, Vijay Baugh, Dairy Farm complete & CPWD Complex from 6 pm to 6.45 pm, at Bhatu Basti, Laxmi Motor Area, Pathergudda, Setlite Colony & New Pahargaon from 6.45 pm to 7.30 pm, at agency House area, Garacharama complete, Solar Power Plant area, Part of Dollygunj, part of Pahargaon, ICMR Colony area, Dairy Farm Junction, Lamba Line, Ranchi Tekery, School Line complete & part of Minnie Bay complete from 7.30 pm to 8.15 pm and at Shristy Nagar, Marine Hill, Dugnabad, Cellular Jail, Atlanta Point, Aberdeen Bazaar site office area, G.B.Pant and Police HQ from 8.15 pm to 9 pm from Nov 19-22, 2015.
The schedule is tentative and may change any time accordingly to the availability/shortage of power. The electricity consumers have been requested to cooperate with the Electricity department.
