Port Blair, Nov 16: During the recent elections for Panchayats and Municipal Council, where the revenue functionaries were busy in connection with election works, many encroachments have cropped up, which has been reported in the local print media. The District Administration has decided that all such encroachments shall be removed immediately and action including lodging of FIR for criminal trespassing to the government property and case under other relevant section of law shall be registered against such unscrupulous elements.
The encroachment removal squad of the District Administration has been activated and taking a strong notice of the recent encroachments, criminal complaint has been lodged under the provisions of Indian Penal Code against 04 (Four) offenders of Corbyn’s Cove area with the PS Aberdeen and another 04 (Four) offenders covered under the jurisdiction of PS Pahargaon for taking penal action under IPC.
The persons against whom criminal complaint has been lodged at PS Aberdeen are Shri. Subramaniam, R/o Dairy Farm, Shri. Ramaiah, R/o Haddo, Shri. Rajiv Bhakta, R/o Garacharma and Shri. Animesh, R/o Prem Nagar.
The persons against whom criminal complaint has been lodged at PS Pahargaon are Shri. Kumar Swamy, R/o Haddo, Shri. Senthil, R/o Dairy Farm, Shri. Ramesh Mondal, R/o Mazar Pahar and Shri. Sameer Dutta, R/o School Line.
Further, it is appealed to government line departments to protect their allotted land and seek assistance from Revenue Department and Police Department, if necessary for the same.
It is pertinent to mention that only 06% of the land in this Union Territory is revenue land which is available for providing civic amenities hence, it is the basic duty of the Administration to protect the government land from encroachment. The general public have been hereby advised to desist from encroaching government land and also to pass on information of any unscrupulous elements doing so, to the District Control Room, Port Blair over phone to 1070, 238881, 240127. Unscrupulous elements, if any, resist in eviction of encroachment, the Revenue Department will be forced to take stern action against them.
