Port Blair, Nov 16: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Lt. Governor at Raj Niwas to discuss the issue of marginal decline of tourists arrival in the Islands during the month of October, 2015. The meeting was attended Chief Secretary, Secretary(Tourism) and all stakeholders including President, ACCI and President, AATO.
In the meeting the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands directed the Tourism Department to launch a concerted media campaign to boost tourist inflows in the coming tourist season.
The Department of Tourism was advised to closely monitor the tourist foot falls in the coming months and initiate suitable measures to arrest any significant decline in tourists.
The Lt. Governor appealed all stakeholders to work together in promoting tourism sector which is not only the main engine for economic growth but intrinsically linked with the livelihood and employment opportunities of the local people of the islands.
