Port Blair, Nov 16: The valedictory function of UDAAN-15–Campus fest of Ummat Public School, Middle Point was held on Sunday. The Director General of Police, Mr Rajesh Malik was the chief guest, while Mr N.S Bundela, DIG, Mr Athmaram Deshpande, SP, CID, Smt Ratna Kannan, Ex-Chairperson, SWB, Smt Protima Banerjee, Councillor, Ward No. 6, Dr Bhat, DDE Science were also present on the occasion.
In his address, the DGP stressed on overall development of personality of students and noted that programmes like Udaan must be replicated in all schools in the city. He lauded the school management and teachers for having conducted the event during school hours without affecting studies. He emphasized the importance of good character building in the formative years of life which stay throughout with the person.
Welcoming the gathering, the School Manager, Smt Rubina Siddiqui through a presentation highlighted the various competitions at Udaan. She added that the school conducted 21 events in a span on 10 days. Udaan, she said, presented an opportunity to students to showcase their latent talent, identify their forte and find their niche. The highlight of the programme was the fashion show done by the tiny tots of pre-primary who walked the ramp to various tunes.
The winners of various competitions were awarded medals and certificates. Mr MZ Siddiqui, Jt. Secretary presented a memento to the chief guest. Mohammed Jadwet, Secretary UPS proposed the vote of thanks.
