Port Blair, Nov 12: The Indian Coast Guard Station, Hut Bay conducted a Community Interaction Programme recently at ALHW Community Hall, Machi Dera, Hut Bay to promote inculcate awareness, safety and security of the local fishermen and to improve their survival skills at sea. The event was attended by about 300 personnel including local Pradhan, PRI and Zilla Parishad members.
The Station Commander of Coast Guard Station Hut Bay, Commandant (JG) PB Nikhariya stressed on the importance of safety and vigilance at sea awareness on coastal Security of Islands to the local fishermen. He also reiterated the need for carrying Biometric Identity Card, Boat Documents and Basic Life Saving equipment while proceeding at sea. Station Medical Officer Surg Lt Cdr Harish Chandra also demonstrated Medical First Aid and CPR Procedures. The Station Commander also assured the gathering for wholehearted support of Indian Coast Guard during natural calamities and when in need at sea.
