Port Blair, Nov 9: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture organized Eastern Zonal Sports meet at Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh last month. Participants from 16 National Research Institutes from the Eastern Zone participated in the meet. A 17 member contingent from ICAR- Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI), Port Blair represented the islands in the zonal meet. The team from CIARI secured 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 3 bronze medals and came 6th in overall standings. The winners will represent the eastern zone in the inter-zonal meet to be held at Rajasthan next year. The Director, Dr. S. Dam Roy along with members of sports committee congratulated and felicitated the participants in an event organized at the CIARI campus for their brilliant performance in the zonal sports meet.
