Port Blair, Oct 31: Two police personnel posted at remote and distant Tillangchong Island of Nicobar Groups of Islands, were evacuated by Andaman and Nicobar Tri-Service Joint Command today.
The Command had received a phone call was received from SHO Nancowry at Joint Operations Centre Port Blair at approximately 0730 hrs on 31 Oct 2015 regarding Constable B Prabhu of Indian Reserve Battalion being in critical condition due to high fever and urgent requirement to transfer him to a hospital.
Indian Navy Ship Bitra, the ANC ship which was sailing in the vicinity, was immediately tasked to evacuate the individual. INS Bitra reached Tillongchong at 1330 hrs.
“By that time, another policeman, Constable Subroto Mondal was also found to be in critical condition and required evacuation. Both the police personnel were taken aboard the ship and brought to Kardip by 1420 hrs, where immediate medical treatment was provided to both the patients by the naval doctor,” Col Yogesh Sharma the Public Relations Officer of ANC informed media today.
By 1440 hrs, the MI-17 helicopter which had been waiting at Kardip base of Kamorta Island, took off for Air Force Station Car Nicobar and reached there at 1523 hrs.
“Before transferring both the patients to the waiting Air Force Dornier aircraft, they were again treated by the Air Force doctors at Car Nicobar,” the Col added.
The IAF Dornier took off from Car Nicobar Air Force Base, and landed at Port Blair at 1635 hrs, from where both the patients were shifted to a waiting ambulance which took them to GB Pant hospital for further treatment.
Condition of both the Jawans is said to be stable.
Earlier on 28 October a snake bitted police Jawan from the same remote Islands was evacuated by Andaman and Nicobar Command.
