Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) has written to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on 23rd July 2026, seeking the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s kind intervention to address the shortage of flights and exceptionally high airfares to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
While expressing gratitude for the Government’s continued support and major infrastructure initiatives in the Islands, AATO highlighted that inadequate flight connectivity and high airfares are creating serious challenges for the tourism sector, affecting tourist arrivals and the livelihoods of thousands of people dependent on tourism.
AATO has requested the Prime Minister’s support in strengthening air connectivity, increasing flight capacity and ensuring more affordable airfares, enabling Andaman & Nicobar Islands to realize their full potential as a leading tourism destination.
