
Sri Vijaya Puram, July 30: The Andaman & Nicobar Police remain steadfast in its commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining the rule of law. In a significant development, the Additional District & Sessions Court, Sri Vijaya Puram by judgment dated 29.07.2026, convicted accused Amit Kumar Tirkey S/o Mr. Anand Mashi Tirkey, R/o Quarry Basti, Namunaghar in connection with FIR No. 111/2012 dated 01.08.2012 of Police Station Ograbraj registered under Section 302 IPC.
The case arose out of a tragic domestic dispute in which the victim sustained fatal burn injuries after being intentionally set on fire. Following a thorough and scientific investigation conducted by Inspector Sahil Shamsuddin, supported by oral and documentary evidence, the prosecution successfully established the guilt of the accused beyond reasonable doubt. Subsequently, on 30.07.2026, the Court sentenced the convict to rigorous imprisonment for life and imposed a fine of ₹50,000/- with the fine amount directed to be paid to the victim’s son.
This conviction reaffirms that every crime is investigated diligently and that offenders cannot escape the reach of law, irrespective of the time elapsed.
