Port Blair, Oct 26: The Population Education Cell of the Directorate of Education organized State level ‘National Role Play & Folk Dance Competition-2015’ under Adolescence Education Programme for the District Level winner teams of South Andaman and Middle &North Andaman Districts at Shikha Sadan here in collaboration with the National Population Education Project (NPEP), New Delhi recently. In the State level role play, GSSS, Diglipur bagged the first position while GMSSS, Hut Bay was adjudged the runner-sup. In the State level folk dance competition, GMSSS, Mayabunder secured the first position and the GSSS School Line was the runner up. The participants were felicitated with certificate and cash award.
The Principal, SIE, Directorate of Education, Dr. R. Devdas appreciated the co-curricular activities being undertaken by the Population Education Project by seeing the gravity of its needs for the all round development in adolescence education in the school education, to sensitize pupils about the needs and concerns of adolescents. He also stressed the need for implementation of such programmes in every stages of school for better progress in academics, social and intellectual life of the students.
The Project Coordinator (Population Edn. Project) & Dy. Director Education (Science), Dr. B.M.Bhatt welcomed the gathering. The Science Supervisor and Project Officer (Population Education), Mr Raja Ram proposed the vote of thanks.
