Port Blair, Oct 26: Disaster preparedness is the thrust area of the Andaman and Nicobar Command under the guidance of Vice Admiral PK Chatterjee, PVSM, AVSM, NM, Commander-in¬-Chief. As part of the Disaster preparedness, a three day capsule course on First Aid and Basic Nursing training for families was organised in the month of September this year at the Naval Residential area in Vijay Baugh.
The second capsule course in the series is being conducted at Likabali auditorium, Brichgunj cantonment from Oct 26-28, 2015. Lectures and practical demonstrations are conducted by medical officers and nursing officers. The aim of the capsule course for families is to train them in First Aid and nursing procedures so that they may become self- reliant at home and be of help during disaster relief operations in this Command.
Altogether, 34 families are being trained in the capsule course. The Chief Staff Officer (Medical) of this Command stated that the course would be conducted regularly in the Army, Navy and Air Force residential areas and the next course would be conducted in the Air Force residential area in Prothrapur.
