Port Blair, Oct 25: The President, Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industry has requested the trading community and food business operators involved in tea stalls business against stocking, selling or using these plastic cups/glasses to serve hot tea/coffee in these plastic cups in the interest of public health. The Commissioner Food Safety, A & N Administration has also issued a press release and mentioned that extensive use of plastic disposal teacups/glasses are used by the trading community involved in the procurement, stock, sell or sale and food business operators conducting hotels and tea stalls business in A & N Islands. These cheap plastic cups/glasses, because of their chemical or physico-chemicals properties are liable to cause serious health problems to human beings.
In view of the toxic nature of the product, the general public have also been cautioned not to consume hot tea/coffee in these plastic cups and glasses as it may cause serious health problems due to toxic chemicals present in these cups, a release from ACCI says.
