Port Blair, Oct 18: Govt. of India, launched two Social Security Schemes viz Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojna (PMSBY), (accidental insurance of Rs. 2,00,000.00 with a premium of Rs. 12/-per annum, age limit from 18 to 70 Years) and Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojna (PMJJBY), (life insurance of Rs. 2,00,000.00 with a premium of Rs. 330.00 per annum, age limit from 18 to 50), on 09th May 2015. The last date for enrolment under PMJJBY (without self-certificate of good health) was earlier extended up to 30.09.2015. It was provided in the guidelines that this period is further extendable up to 30.11.2015. As a larger proportion of the eligible bank account holders are still uncovered, the last date for enrolment under these insurance schemes, without self-certified of good health for PMJJBY is further extended from 30.09.2015 to 30.11.2015.
Thus persons enrolling in PMJJBY after 30.11.2015 for obtaining cover, as prescribed, for the balance period up to 31.05.2016 shall be required to submit the prescribed self certification of good health. However, for persons enrolling in PMSBY, it is pertinent that in any event there is no requirement of self-certificate of good health. All the eligible persons are requested to contact their bank branches for enrollment under these schemes before 30.11.2015.
