Port Blair, Oct 18: The Electricity Department has asked all Durga Puja Committees in A&N Islands to strictly ensure that all electrical safety precaution is taken while illuminating the Durga Puja Pandals and on the road side near the pandals.
All electric lines, equipments and apparatus used, should be of sufficient rating for power, insulation and estimated fault current and sufficient mechanical strength for the duty which they are required to perform and shall be constructed, installed protected worked and maintained in such a manner as to ensure safety of human beings, animal and property.
The electrical contractors engaged in illumination/decoration of puja pandals and the vehicles used for visharjan of idols are advised to strictly adhere to the safety regualtions and precautions while handling the electrical appliances. All the electrical wires/cables used should be properly insulated to avoid any mishap/loss of life.
The general public have been advised to be cautions and vigil of the electrical wires and cables used for illumination/decorations of puja pandals while visiting puja pandals.
