Mayabunder, Oct 15: Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Admn, Port Blair and NSS, MG Govt. College, Mayabunder organised one day Awareness program on “ILL EFFECT OF DRUG ABUSE AND ALCOHLISM” for the NSS Volunteers in the College Auditorium on 14.10.2015. More than 100 NSS Volunteers & 100 nos Final year students from all streams and teaching staffs attended the program.
Shri S.K.Biswas Probation Officer, Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N administration delivered speech on the importance of the ill impact of alcoholism & drug abuse and about different centrally sponsored schemes implemented by the directorate and appealed the youth to share the responsibility to propagate the massage all around to the needy one.
Shri P.R.Pradeep, Sub-Inspector, PS Mayabunder also briefly but effective lecture delivered on the issue before the gathering. He also passed the massage to the youths that maximum nos of vehicle accidents are happening on the road due to these ill practice of drugs and alcoholism. Besides this, resource person from “Tata Institute of Social Science”, Port Blair very effectively highlighted about the evil consequences of alcohol & drugs which gradually weakening the back bone of our society specially the youths.
The program was concluded with the appeal to youths to share the information among the peer groups about its severe consequences and vote of thanks passed by Dr. Manik Mali, HOD, English, MGGC.
