Port Blair, Sept 28: Under the aegis of Headquarters Andaman and Nicobar Command, a three day capsule course on First Aid and Basic Nursing training for families was organised from 22 Sep to 24 Sep 15 at Vijay Baugh. The aim of the capsule course for families was to train them in First Aid and nursing procedures so that they may become self- reliant at home and be of help during disaster relief operations in this Command. Disaster preparedness is the thrust area of the Andaman and Nicobar Command under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief Vice Adm PK Chatterjee, PVSM, AVSM, NM.
Thirty families were trained in the capsule course and the event was a grand success. Lectures and practical demonstrations were conducted by medical officers and nursing officers. Surgeon Commodore AK Anand, the Chief Staff Officer (Medical) stated that the course would be conducted regularly in the Army, Navy and Air Force residential areas.
