Port Blair, Sept 24: The “World Tourism Day” is being celebrated on 27th September, 2015 in this Island along with the rest of the country. The theme for “World Tourism Day – 2015” is declared as “One Billion Tourists, One Billion Opportunities”.
On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Department of Tourism is organising cleanliness drives in all important tourists beaches/ places with the message “Swachh Bharat Swachh Paryatan”. Hence, people from all walks of life including stakeholders of tourism industry are requested to actively take part in this initiative.
During the celebration of “World Tourism Day – 2015”, the Directorate of Tourism, A & N Administration is organizing photography and painting competitions. The theme for photography competition is “Andamans – A paradise for nature lovers”. The competition is open to all wherein the participants need to submit a hard copy of the photograph (size 12” x 10”) to Shri Vinod Kumar, DRC (HQ), Tourism Department (03192 230381) on or before 30/9/2015. The participant shall indicate the name, postal address, mobile No. and the location of the photography (on the reverse side of the photo). The participant shall be owner of the photograph and shall have the copy right of the same.
The entries received will be short listed by a committee and participants of short listed entries will be required to submit original image file (RAW or JPEG as shot) and high resolution file version of their entries for final judging. A participant may submit maximum two images for consideration. The winning participants should authorise the department to use the prize winning photographs for official use free of cost. The prize winning entries shall be the property of the department and the participants should not send or display the same for any other competitions. By submitting entries for competition, the participants agree that they are the owners of the image and has full copy right. Further, participants also agree to indemnify the department in case of any legal complications on account of dispute over the ownership of the photographs submitted for competition.
A painting competition is also being organised for school students up to the age 15 years at “Flea Market”, Marina Park Road on 27/9/2015 between 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm. Drawing sheets will be provided to participants. Interested participants may register their names in the reception counter of IP & T Building (Ph: 03192 232694) during the office hours on or before 26th September, 2015.
