Port Blair, Sept 08: The review of all Polling Stations under South Andaman District has been done by the Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections and the instructions have been issued to all concerned to ensure basic minimum facilities. A few Polling Stations which were found to be improper for the Polling are being changed with the concurrence of the Election Commissioner, UT.
Staffs on election duty have been informed to approach the concerned Returning Officer along with Appointment order issued by the Authority concerned for recording vote in Postal Ballot Paper. All Returning Officers are required to be available in their respective offices on 11th & 12th September 2015 for the same.
The training of Presiding Officers/Polling Personnel from Kamorta was conducted at Campbell Bay on 8th September 2015. Those who have not attended the training have been Show Caused.
The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Modal Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. Total 1436 (One Thousand Forty Six) & 206 (Two Hundred Six) number of defacements have been removed from Public & Private property in South Andaman District & North Andaman District respectively. The general public and others are appealed to report any case of violation of Modal Code of Conduct to Election Cell on 03192-238881 and 03192-240127.
A News Item was published in a local newspaper regarding misuse of vehicles on election duty by some staff. The matter was enquired and verified by concerned drivers and in-charge vehicles and it was found to be incorrect. The monitoring of use of vehicles is being done and necessary instructions have been issued to all concerned to ensure proper use of vehicle.
