Port Blair, Aug 8: The Director General of Police, Mr Rajesh Malik, interacted with Bankers of A & N Islands at Police Head Quarters, Atlanta Point on Tuesday.. The Bankers enumerated the security measures being taken by the Banks during online transactions and in & around their premises/ATMs.
The DGP expressed his concern over the increasing cases of bank fraud and stressed on information dissemination and usage of visual aids, informative leaflets for sensitizing the public. The DGP welcomed the suggestions of the bankers and asked them to install CCTV cameras in all Banks, ensure CCTV footage monitoring on a daily basis, depute security guards in all ATMs, conduct random checks on miscreants and devise a mechanism to subvert any misuse.
The Director General of Police also suggested certain measures for strengthening the safety & security of banks. The DGP further called all bankers to register their cash carrying agencies with the local police and asked them for regular checks of the security of cash carrying vans. The DGP also assured of all possible assistance for stronger preventive action towards increasing deterrence against online frauds & cyber crime.
