Port Blair, Sept 8: As per the instructions of Election Commission of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the staff appointed for polling duties are to be selected through a process of randomization. Such randomization is intended to ensure free and fair elections so that the Presiding and Polling officers are not influenced by any external considerations.
As per the instructions from the District database, Presiding and Polling officers have been identified and the polling party including Presiding and Polling Officers forming a group shall be generated by the process of randomization on Sept 13 at 9.30 am in the conference hall of District Office. However, at this stage the polling team will not be aware of the polling station assigned to them.
Polling team will know their respective polling stations in which they are deployed only at the distribution centre on a day prior to the day of poll. Polling personnel randomization shall be followed by randomization of EVMs to be allocated to each Returning Officer of Port Blair Municipal Council, said the Director of Municipal and Panchayat elections requesting representatives of all political parties to witness the process of randomization.
