Port Blair, Sept 04: The Secretary of PBMC today appealed all citizens of Port Blair not to throw garbage and waste in public like Roads, Drains, Parks, open areas etc. and dispose waste only in dust bins.
The secretary added that house hold waste should be handed over to sanitary worker after separating plastics & polythenes or recyclable things like wood, paper etc.
“Citizens should not put any waste or garbage in water bodies and open drains as this ultimately chokes the drains or flows to water bodies or sea and spoils our beaches. Keeping city clean is utmost factor in attracting tourists to Andaman Islands. Citizens are also requested not to leave their cows buffaloes & goats etc. on roads as it is dangerous to the traffic children etc. apart from creating littering and insanitation,” a release issued by Secretary PBMC said here today.

“It shows we are reasonably placed as far as cleanliness is concerned. However we cannot sit back on our achievement but should move ahead so that we can be in top 20 cities of India. Most important factor in this efforts is cooperation of citizens of Port Blair,” the secretary added in his press release.
