Port Blair, Aug 27: A joint team of District Administration, A & N Police and PBMC under the overall supervision of MCC Team of Aberdeen Area pulled down thirteen (13) unauthorized hoardings at various locations under Port Blair Municipal Limits viz. Tiranga Park, Delanipur, Phoenix Bay etc. The drive will be continued on other days as well and all concerned are hereby warned not to deface any property be it public or private otherwise, penal action shall be taken against them.
Defacement is a cognizable offence under Section 3 of A & N Prevention of Defacement of Property Regulation, 1987. It is further re-iterated that defacement by means of interfering with the appearance of duty, damaging, disfiguring, spoiling or injuring in any other way of any property including building, hut, structure, wall, tree, fence, post, pole or any other erection, be it private or public is strictly prohibited under A & N Prevention of Defacement of Property Regulation, 1987. In case of any violation necessary action including FIR will be lodged against the wrongdoer and the person/company/party who is directly benefitted from the contents of the defacement.
MCC teams in their respective areas are keeping strict vigil on sale/purchase of liquor from the retail outlets of ANIIDCO Ltd. Licenced Bars are also being monitored and cases of illegal sale/distribution by the candidates or political party workers are also under surveillance. Police Personnel in plain clothes have been tasked to glean information so that necessary action may be initiated, said the Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman in a release.
