Port Blair, Aug 20: The NCC Senior Division/Wing (Army and Navy) cadets of JNRM led by Associate NCC Officer Maj S Jayakumar , Capt KV Ramana Murthy (Army), ANO (SD) Sub Lt Satyam Setia (Navy) and PI Staff of Army , Navy & Air NCC under the guidance of Commanding Officer conducted a Safai Abhiyan at JNRM College. Solid garbage/wastes especially dried leaves, tree branches, empty glass bottles, plastic water & soft drink bottles, plastic packing paper etc. were collected in college premises and its surroundings. The college lecturers, students and the general public appreciated the effort. An appeal was made to the college students to keep the premises/surrounding and thereby Island clean by throwing garbage in proper places, dustbin etc. The cadets were educated about the importance of cleanliness and their responsibility in observing the same at their localities to achieve the “Clean India Mission”.
The Principal JNRM Dr. Francis Xavier and other College staff gave their whole hearted cooperation for the safai abhiyan. Refreshments were also distributed to the cadets. The Directorate of health services provided the cadets with gloves, masks and gash bags for the drive. Since the day was also observed as “Sadbhavna Diwas” the cadets were also made to take the pledge to maintain brotherhood, peace and harmony.
