Port Blair, Aug 20: The filling of nominations for Panchayat & Municipal Elections, 2015 continued on the Second day on 20th August 2015, from 11:00 am to 03:00 pm by respective Returning Officers. For PBMC constituencies total 4 no of nominations were received, 3 nominations for ward no. 23 & 01 for ward no. 24. 01 nomination each for Mayabunder constituency of Zilla Parishad and Mithakari constituency of Panchayat Samiti Member were also received. 02 nominations were received for the post of Gram Pradhan one each for Gram Panchayat Neil Kendra & Gram Panchayat Wimberlygunj under South Andaman District. Nominations for the remaining seats & constituencies have been nil.
It is also informed for the information of concerned parties that state parties desirous of allotment of exclusive symbols as per the specified conditions are required to apply to the Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections along with the copy of form “A” appended to A & N Islands Election Symbols (Reservation & Allotment) Order 2005, on or before 22nd August 2015.
To ensure free & fair elections, it has been decided that presiding officers will be posted out of their Tehsil’s. The Administration is also ensuring the effective enforcement of Model Code of Conduct. Till date total 360 no of posters, banners & other printed materials have been removed from various public properties.
