Port Blair, Aug 7: The Adhyaksha, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Ms VK Mariyam Bibi laid the foundation stone for an Anganwadi Centre at Azad Nagar, Stewartgunj under ICDS Scheme on Thursday. Ms. Rashmi Krishnan, Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Mr R Devdas, Director of Social Welfare, Mr P. Abdul Aziz, Pradhan, Stewartgunj, Mr Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Member, Mannarghat and PRI members were present on the occasion.
In her address, Ms Mariyam said that the construction of the Anganwadi Centre will be executed by Zilla Parishad with the financial assistance of Social Welfare Department and will cater to the long felt needs of the residents of Azad Nagar, Stewartgunj. It is also proposed to hold awareness programmes at Centre for the benefit of children and pregnant women after it comes up, she said.
