Port Blair, Aug 5: During his visit to North & Middle Andaman in February and March this year, the Lt. Governor witnessed a Cultural programme presented by the school children and announced that in view of the immense talent among the children of North & Middle Andaman, they would be provided an opportunity to demonstrate their talent at state level cultural programme to be organized at Port Blair .Accordingly, the Department of Art & Culture has invited school children of North & Middle Andaman to perform during the ensuing Monsoon Festival being organized from 7th -9th August 2015.About 60 school children from Rangat, Mayabunder and Diglipur are expected to reach Port Blair to participate in the festival.
During visit to North & Middle, the Lt. Governor also announced a grant of Rs 5 Lakh for the promotion of art and culture in Rangat and Diglipur. Accordingly the amount has been provided by the Department of Art & Culture to Deputy Commissioner (North & Middle Andaman).
About twenty registered Cultural organizations, comprising of two hundred artists will also present programmes based on folk, classical and semi classical presentations during the Monsoon Festival. All are invited to come and enjoy the festival and also encourage our artistes and school children.
