Port Blair, June 12: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), has condoled the death of Shri Manoranjan Bhakta, Ex-Member of Parliament. Shri Bhakta, aged 76 years passed away at his daughter’s residence at Salt Lake, Kolkata in the evening today after a prolonged illness. He was elected Member of Parliament from the A&N Parliamentary Constituency for eight times. He first won the MP election from the A&N Islands in the year 1977.
The Lt Governor has conveyed his deep shock over the death of Shri Manoranjan Bhakta and has expressed his deep condolence to the members of the bereaved family.
The Lt Governor said that the Islands have lost a tall leader who was committed for the welfare of the Islanders and the progress of the Islands. He will be long remembered for his contribution to the growth and development of the Islands.
