Port Blair, June 12: The Lt. Governor, Lt. Gen (retd). AK Singh convened a meeting of the Civil Aviation Department of administration to review the progress on major civil aviation proposals.
A power point presentation was made by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Civil Aviation giving details about the progress made so far on various civil aviation proposals, which included progress on issues relating to rationalization of Air Fare on mainland-Island sector, increasing the frequency of scheduled and charter flight services, efforts made for night operations at port Blair Airport, Progress on installation of Glide path for instrument landing system, temporary up-gradation and face-lifting existing terminal building, plan for developing international connectivity, progress on extension of run way at Campbell Bay and Shibpur, plan for introduction of fixed wing aircraft services in the inter Island sector and modernization of existing fleet of Pawan Han Helicopters by induction of modern generation state- of- the- Art helicopters.
The Lt. Governor directed the officers of A & N Administration to closely monitor and ensure timely completion of the projects.
