Port Blair, Mar 27: A cleanliness and awareness drive was conducted on 21th March 2015 at ward No. 16, south Point, PBMC site office from 08.30-11.30 am in presence of ward councilor Mrs. Vineeta Malhotra under the Leadership of Mrs. Raj Mahajan Nominated member for swach Bharat Abhiyaan.
The resident were made aware and sensitized on the benefit of hygiene & civic sense by Mr. Vijaya Kumar, sanitary officer, PBMC briefed segregation of Dry & wet waste. The Abhiyaan was coordinated by PBMC Sanitary officer Mr. Vijay Prasad Tiwari. A special cleanliness drive was conducted in the ward with the active participation of PBMC workers Nominated members of the swachh Bharat Abhiyaan conducted by sanitary inspector Mr. Sameer Das of ward No. 16.
The Resident with help of PBMC will be dumping the wet waste separately for Vermi compost and re-use of wet waste to make manure in house by Agriculture officer Mrs. Bindu Raghunath.
As an out come of the Abhiyaan the Inmates asked PBMC to locate a place where they can dump wet waste and south Point 1th ward/ village to have their own vermin compost.
15 members were selected and areas were divided to give the follow up feed-back and also help to keep their area clean.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan Nominated Member Mrs. Raj Mahajan and her team organized and actively participated. Members in the cleanliness and awareness on civic sense were Dr. Poonam Arora, Mr. Kaushik Banerjee, Mr. Arun Malik and Bhanu Pratap Yadav. The Team will be organizing such activities all in the wards for creating awareness.
