Port Blair, Mar 27: Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha, State General Secretary, BJP, A & N Islands, has written to the Lt. Governor stating that the retaliatory action taken by the PBMC against the building norm violators in Port Blair in a pick and choose style is objectionable.
They seal some buildings while many others stand tall out there in the open for all to see. This markedly biased approach has created a sensation of panic and skepticism among the community.
Mr. Jha said that there are more than a thousand buildings in the township which have been constructed ignoring the norms laid down under the Municipal building bye-laws. Therefore it has been a longstanding demand of scores of building owners in Port Blair lobbying for a one-time relaxation of building norms stipulated in the Municipal Building Bye-laws 1999 of PBMC.
Mr. Jha recalled that on the 1st of January this year, the LG had ordered the formation of a high-level committee to look into the feasibility of granting the one-time relaxation of norms to such violators apart from carrying out a review of these regulations and to keep any punitive action against any such building norm violators in abeyance until the committee submitted its report and further orders were issued in the matter.
