Port Blair, Mar 24: A dinghy which had drifted towards North Button Islands with 05 Great Andamanese on board was rescued by a police team from Havelock on 23.03.15.
On 23/03/15 at about 7:15 PM, information was received regarding drifting of dinghy near North Button Island with 05 Great Andamanese tribals on board. On receipt of above information, immediately a police team of PS Havelock was despatched. Also a team headed by I/c LOP Strait Island HC G.N Tigga along with PC/Nahor and PC/ T.K Bulli and two other persons namely Boey and Yarramo advanced to the location immediately. At about 11:30 PM, they rescued the persons and brought them back to Strait Island. The dinghy with seven on board included 05 Andamanese tribals who were coming to Strait Island from Kadamtala and when they were on their way near North Button Island, the dinghy developed some snag in its propeller. All persons were rescued and were brought back safely to Strait Island.
