Mayabunder, Mar 10: On 09.03.2015, the police team of Police Station Mayabunder led by Inspector Abdul Sajid, SHO PS Mayabunder along with HC/390 Gurucharan, HC/1565 R.K.Rathor, HC/2470 C.Sanjai Kumar, PC/2137 Sayeed Shihabuddin, PC/895 Akash Yadav, PC/2630 Durga Rao and PC/1348 N. Zainuddin conducted raid at Mayabunder Jetty & M.V.Nicobar Vessel berthing at Mayabunder Harbour and 12 kgs of sea-cucumber (rare species) from the possession of (1) M.Chellam R/o Mayabunder, (2) R.Veeraswamy R/o Mayabunder & (3) Mohd Kuthbuddin R/o Muslim Street West, Rameswaran, Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu. The entire operation were conducted under the close supervision of Shri S.K.Meena, IPS, SP(D) North & Middle Andaman and Shri Ajai Kr. Rai, Dy.S.P. Rangat. All the persons were detained and handed over to Range Officer, Territorial Division, Mayabunder for further investigation for offence U/s 48A/49B/51 of Wildlife Protection Act 1972. The accused persons remanded in judicial custody for 14 days upto 23rd March 2015 and the seized property ordered for burial.
