Port Blair, Feb 23: Acting upon a tip of information regarding Gambling, a police party of CID consisting of ASI Rakesh Singh, HCs Ibrahim Ali, Mohd. Rafique, PCs Somen Biswas, Milton Baul, Birbal Ram and Arun Xaxa conducted a raid at New Wandoor Community Hall and apprehended nine persons namely (1) Pradeep Mazumdar (2) Ranjeet Majhi, (3) Vikash Mondal, (4) Kartick Das, (5) Prahlad Sikdar, (6) Ratan Majhi, (7) Rajesh Kumar, all R/o Wandoor and (8) Arumugam (9) Gopal Krishnan both R/o Indira Nagar and recovered an amount of Rs. 24585/- (rupees twenty four thousand five hundred eighty five only). All the aforesaid persons were arrested from the spot and a challan under the appropriate sections of A & N Gambling Regulation 1951 has been chalked out at PS CCS.
