Port Blair, Apr 05: A delegation of Medical Officers who have been working on adhoc basis for the last 17 to 23 years had met Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands for his intervention in getting their case considered by the Union Public Service Commission for filling up the post on regular basis.
The Lt. Governor has assured them that keeping in view the services provided by them for the last many years in remote locations and in the aftermath of destruction of life and property due to Tsunami of 2004, Administration will consider their case most sympathetically.
Lt. Governor has directed the Health Department to make a comprehensive proposal to seek one time special dispensation from the UPSC for regularisation of services of these 18 Medical Officers.Lt. Governor would write to the Chairman of UPSC for the special dispensation in favour of the adhoc doctors.
