Port Blair, Dec 23: Andaman and Nicobar Police today arrested two Italian Tourists from Havelock Island with 430 grams of Ganja.
According to reports Mr. Virgili Nicola, 25 years and Miss Nadia Ghouti, 21 years, the two tourists from Italy, were selling Ganja in Havelock Island and on receipt of specific input a police team, headed by SDPO Havelock, Mr. B Saigal and the SHO of PS Havelock Mr. Vikas Singh raided their hotel ‘Coco Beach Resort’ at Vijay Nagar No 5 village of Havelock and recovered 430 grams of Ganja packed in 81 small packets like cake, village sources said.
According to information, Police also recovered one Lakh seventy thousand rupees from their possession in cash.
During investigation the tourists revealed that they purchased Ganja from an open market of Himachal Pradesh and after that they reached these Islands on 4th December 2014 with the consignment and on 5th they landed in Havelock Island.
This is first time when Foreign Tourists have been arrested in Andaman with Ganja. The number of cases related to smuggling and sale of Ganja have increased manifold in Andaman in last few years. Both the tourists are being brought to Port Blair for further investigation.
