Port Blair, Dec 10: During zero hours yesterday, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, the Member of Parliament, A & N Islands has loudly raised the issue for reinstatement of compensatory pay of Fire Service Personal of A & N Island before the Speaker of Lok Sabha. Mr. Ray expressed that Fire Service Personal of A & N Island were being paid the 13th month salary i.e. the compensatory pay since 1979 which has been stopped by the MHA from 1st Jun. 2013. In order to restore the financial benefit to the Fire Service Personal of A & N Island Mr. Ray has presented argument before the Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha saying that as per the Police Manual, 1963, all non-gazetted technical and non- technical including Civil Police, Armed Police, Special Armed Police, CIDs, Police Training School Personals, Police Band Personals, Police Wireless Personals, Police Marine Force and Police Motor Transport Personal are getting the compensatory pay i.e. the 13th month salary.
He said that the Fire Service Personal of A & N Islands is performing the duty same as Police Personal of Police Dept., A & N Island that off course apart from their own duty of Fire Services.
“During VIP/VVIP moment and during any other national programmes for maintaining the law and order, the services of Fire Service Personal are also being utilized in support of the Police Personal of the Police Dept. Many states like Orissa, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Jammu Kashmir are being paid the compensatory pay i.e. 1 month extra salaries to the fire service personal of the state,” the MP said.
Mr. Ray also added that in some states the Fire Service Personal are getting the benefit of risk allowances. This has not been extended to Fire Service Personal of A & N Islands.
In order to restoring the compensatory pay for the benefit of 625Nos. non- gazetted Fire Personal in 22 Fire stations of A & N Islands, Mr. Ray requested the Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha for giving specific direction to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the A & N Administration as well.
