Port Blair, Dec 01: As part of the Navy Week Celebrations, a Multi-Specialty Medical Camp for the local population of Diglipur was organised under the aegis of Andaman & Nicobar Command by INHS Dhanvantari on 26 and 27 Nov 14. The camp was coordinated by NAS Shibpur with support from civil health authorities at Community Health Centre, Diglipur.
The medical staff which included a Medical Specialist, an ENT Specialist and a Dental Officer of INHS Dhanvantari, Medical Officer of NAS Shibpur and paramedical staff examined over 400 patients. Apart from diagnosing and managing ailments of various lifestyle diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, and cardiac illnesses with related complications, the team also diagnosed cases such as congenital heart disease and severe hearing loss and referred them to higher centres for timely management.
The medical camp received an overwhelming response from the local population and was a huge success. Organising such camps for the needy go a long way towards preventive health care, and the Andaman & Nicobar Command is steadfast in its commitment towards the islanders.
