Port Blair, Nov 14: The A&N State Social Welfare Board celebrated Children’s Day on 14th Nov., 2014 at 2.30 P.M. in the Crèche centre run by the Shadipur Mahila Mandal, Port Blair by organising songs, poems and fancy dress by the crèche children. Smt. Ratna Kannan, Chairperson, A&N Social Welfare Board was the chief guest on this occasion. She garlanded the potrait of Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru in the presence of Smt. Meera Sharma, President, Mahila Mandal, Shadipur. Smt. Thangamani, Secretary, Mahila Mandal, Shadipur welcomed the Chief Guest and others present on the occasion. Smt.Ratna Kannan told about Pt.Jawharlal Nehru’s love towards children and blessed them to achieve the heights of their loving Chacha. She also distributed snacks and small gifts to the crèche children.
Smt.Ratna Kannan, Chairperson appreciated the President of the Mahila Mandal and Members for their cooperation to make the programme a grand success. More than 60 children were present on the occasion dressed in various colours. Smt. Ratna Kannan further requested the Mahila Mandal to come forward with their problems, if any, for the development of the activities of the Mahila Mandal and also advised to take up the programmes of the Board for the welfare of women & children of the society. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Smt. Thangamani, Secretary, Mahila Mandal, Shadipur.
