Port Blair, Nov 02: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has called upon the student community to play active role in the awareness campaign of the Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojna. Addressing the gathering of students of Model School at the School Auditorium today, he said that the aim of the ambitious programme is to ensure that each family in the country has bank account. He urged the students to make people aware about the programme in their localities, explaining the importance.
Talking about the new initiative taken to get the students better coaching facility, the MP said that it has already been approved by the Administration, on his request, to provide coaching facilities to the meritorious students of the Islands at Kota Rajasthan. The students would have the opportunity to avail the coaching facilities simultaneously with their regular studies of class XI and XII over there. He hoped that the students would succeed in getting admissions in the Prestigious Institutions like IITs through this coaching facility. While interacting with students, he advised them to stay away from the clutches of drug addiction and concentrate on their studies. The MP felt the need of introducing Smart Classes in the School. He said that use of Information and Communication technology in the class rooms would make the learning more effective.
Earlier the lead district manager of State Bank of India, Shri C. Raj while explaining the features of PMJDY, said that the forms for opening the accounts would be made available at the schools itself to simplify the process. He informed that now the visa debit cards are being replaced by ‘RuPay card’.
The Principal of the School Dr. Dheeraj Kumar expressed gratitude towards MP for conducting such useful camps and hoped that his presence would definitely inspire the students.
Around 500 students of class XI & XII attended the awareness programme. Earlier the MP took part in the similar awareness programmes held at Boys, Nirmala, Dilanipur Schools and JNRM today.
