Port Blair, Oct 15: The District Special Police Team has arrested thirteen gamblers from gambling dens from New Pahargaon and Atlanta Point on 10th& 12th October, 2014 and seized Rs. 17,040/- gambling money from them.
On receipt of credible informationon 10th October, the District Special Police Team comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HC Surya Narayan, Constables Mohd. Imran, M. Raja Rao, Ashish Mallick & Rakesh Toppo under the supervision of DySP (SA) Shri Mohd. Aslam, raided the gambling den at new Pahargaon and arrested eight persons from the den namely (1) Suresh Kishan (43) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon, (2) K. Veeraswamy (52) yrs. r/o Austinabd, (3) Sunny Thomas (50) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon, (4) Ishwar Rao (54) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon, (5) V. Rakesh Kumar Xalxo (32) yrs. r/o Austinabad, (6) Sahul Hameed (32) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon, (7) A. Salim (32) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon and (8) Sadakat Ali (34) yrs. r/o New Pahargaon. `8,000/- board money alongwith 52 Nos. playing cards were seized from the spot and `3040/-seized from their personal search.
On 12th Oct. (Sunday), the above team had raided another gambling den at Atlanta Point and arrested five persons from the den namely (1) Ganesh (20) yrs. r/o Megapode Sunder Colony, (2) CH Jagdishwar Rao (30) yrs. r/o Atlanta Point, (3) M. Abdul Rehman (31) yrs. r/o Stewartgunj, (4) G. Venkat Rao (36) yrs. r/o Marine Hill and (5) K. Srinu (30) yrs. r/o Atlanta Point. A sum of `6000/- including board money `4800/- and 52 playing cards were seized from the spot.The gamblers have been booked under the A&N Gambling Regulation.
