Port Blair, Sept 25: The Disaster Risk Reduction Day will be observed by this Union Territory on 08th October, 2014 which will also be observed by National Institute of Disaster Management (Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India), New Delhi at national level for creating awareness and also encourage people and Government to participate in building more resilient communities and nations. To observe Disaster Risk Reduction in this UT, the Directorate of Disaster Management is organizing a Drawing & Painting Competition for the students in two groups of class (VI to X) and class (XI to XII) of various schools in South Andaman on the topic “Home safety and Local Preparedness for Disaster Risk Reduction” to be held on 8th October, 2014 at 10.00 AM to 12.30 PM at Directorate of Disaster Management, 2nd Floor, Anti-Corruption Building, Link Road, Goalghar, Port Blair and thereafter the prizes will be distributed to the winners at 4.00 PM. The schools in South Andaman are requested to nominate two students for each group for the said competition.
All the students willing to participate are requested to reach Directorate of Disaster Management before 9.30 AM and to bring their own drawing materials on the day of competition. The drawing sheet will be provided by the organising department on the day of competition.
