Diglipur, Sept 09: The much awaited night bus service on Andaman Trunk Road started yesterday night from Diglipur to Port Blair.
This service was flagged off by Pradhan Subhash Gram Mr. P R Singaram along with SHO, PS Diglipur Mr. G S Yadav. The full packed bus left at 10.30PM as per Scheduled and reached Port Blair today at 09.30AM.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha, passengers expressed satisfaction of this night service and hoped to get many more buses in this route.
Some passengers demanded to improve the condition of the basic amenities in the ATR route which is presently a nightmare. “Such night journeys will definitely be a remarkable milestone in the transport system of North and Middle Andaman District,” said a passenger.
This service will also connect the passengers to Spice jet and Jet Airways services in Port Blair who flies after the scheduled reaching time of the bus so for passengers of these aircrafts there is no more need to stay in hotels for one night.
In case the Scheduled speed boat is cancelled at Diglipur in the night, the passengers also can take this bus service.
Earlier the In charge of SS Transports at Diglipur Mr. C.Ramesh welcomed the guests and passengers and provided refreshment in the Bus.
Speaking on this occasion, the Pradhan of Subhash Gram, Diglipur said that the transport should take utmost care of the passengers during night service and the Police should conduct surprise checks of the bus during the whole journey. He also conveyed gratitude to the Asst. Commissioner Diglipur on this occasion, because of whom this night service became a reality.
