Port Blair, June 18: A coordination meeting regarding preparedness for Disaster Management for all line departments was held on 18.06.2014 under the chairmanship of Smt. R. Menaka, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman District. SP District, E.E. Electricity. E.E. APWD, D.E. BSNL, representatives from Forest department, DRCS and Tensildars of Rangat, Mayabunder & Diglipur were present.
During the meeting it was decided that the combined teams of Electricity, Forest, Fire, Revenue & APWD represented by their respective field officers will handle ground situation during heavy rains and restore normalcy in their respective areas. The Police Radio will be used for communication in case of failure of BSNL services. The readiness of relief centers will be verified by the concerned Tehsildars. Also it was decided that relief materials will be kept at police Stations, PatwarKhanas and Panchayats in the outlying areas.
