Port Blair, June 18: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of India, a copy of which has been released to the press has requested for enhancement in MBBS seats for the students of A&N Islands. In his letter, he mentioned that since there is no medical college in the islands, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare allots seats for MBBS in colleges in mainland. 18 seats of MBBS in various medical colleges were being allotted earlier which was reduced to 13 seats during the year 2012-13. He requested for increasing the MBBS seats to 40, a communication received here said.
