Port Blair, May 13: The Counting for the lone Parliamentary Constituency in Andaman and Nicobar Islands will start at 8.00 a.m on 16th May. As per the directions of the ECI, the results obtained by each candidate shall be declared after each round.
The Counting will be carried out in the Auditorium of Govt. Girls Sr. Secondary School, Port Blair that in two counting halls having 14 counting tables each. Since there are a total of 386 Electronic Voting Machines, which need to be counted, the entire counting process shall be held over 14 rounds.
In order to ensure that the position regarding the votes obtained after each round is easily accessible to the public, arrangements have been made by both All India Radio and Doordarshan, Port Blair to carry the results from 8.00 a.m until such time as the final results are declared.
Additionally, the office of CEO has tied up with the Department of IT, Andaman Nicobar Administration to launch a unique SMS based service for all members of the public. Under this, real time information on the results obtained by the top three candidates after every round shall be sent through SMS on mobile phones.
This service can be availed by anyone by simply typing “AN REG GE-2014” and sending it to 51969. A nominal registration charge of Rs.1.00 will apply.
The general public of A&N Islands who are interested to receive regular updates on the results in the ANI Parliamentary Constituency may like to register for this SMS service. The public can also tune into All India Radio or watch the special live coverage on DD Port Blair from 8 am onwards.
