Diglipur, Feb 25: Nearly after a week the BSNL network was restored in N& M Andaman this afternoon. But to the dismay of some landline subscribers, who did not pay their last month’s bill on time, found their line disconnected by evening.
The angry people when reached the BSNL office and asked the SDO, he said that it was automatically instructed to the computer to disconnect lines, against which payments are pending on 25th of every month and they can’t do anything.
The public now demands to restore the IVR System, which reminds them to pay the bill and even if bills are not paid, disconnect the line only in the morning hours so they can pay the bill during office hours and restore on the same day.
The BSNL services in North & Middle Andaman Islands was affected by a damage caused to BSNL under Sea Optical Fiber Cable due to some ship anchoring in the creek between Gandhighat jetty in Baratang & Uttara Jetty in Middle Andaman on Feb 18. Emergency restoration activities was undertaken by BSNL to restore the Under Sea Optical Fiber Cable on war footing.
