Port Blair, Jan 22: The Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram setup in the Port Blair in the year 1990 for the benefit of children belonging to poor family, who are financially weak and facing financial constraints for giving education of their children and also to maintain their livelihood.
The strength of such children have tremendously increased, thereby the Ashram was facing shortage accommodation of the poor children, who are economically poor and socially backward.
In order to mitigate the problem being faced by the Ashram, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament has laid the foundation stone in a simple function at Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram for construction of Hostel Building under the MPLAD Scheme for the inmates of Ashram. The estimated cost for construction of proposed Hostel Building is Rs. 14.03 lakhs.
