Port Blair, Jan 22: State President of BJP Mr. Vishal Jolly, General Secretary Mr. Deepak Jha, Mondal President (Baratang) Mr. Nizamuddin, Pradhan of Sundergarh Panchayat Mr. Biju Gurudasan along with Mr. Abdul Khan and Mr. Sudhir Toppo (Mondal Secretaries) today met the striking employees of Baratang Forest Workers Union who are sitting on hunger strike in front of Baratang DFO Office and extended the full support of the party to their cause.
Three members of the union are on hunger strike since 20th January 2014 demanding regularisation of 61 labourers who had served the department for more than 20 years.
State President, BJP, A&N Island Mr. Vishal Jolly has requested the Lt. Governor to accede to their demand in view of the fact that each of these 61 labourers had put in more than 20 years of their service for the wellbeing of this department and at this fag end of their career they have left with no option to survive.
