Port Blair, Jan 16: Two days training-cum-exposure on PoP of Paddy, Vegetables and Fruit Crops organized by ACANI, supported by NABARD and facilitated by CARI, got inaugurated today by Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director at Chaupal of Social Science of CARI, Port Blair. Speaking on occasion the Chief Guest, Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CARI applauded the efforts of ACANI and NABARD in joining hands with the Institute for transfer of scientific knowledge and skill to the farmers from Diglipur and Mayabunder through capacity building and exposure visit. He urged the farmers to share their problems with the scientists for getting logical solutions, beside translate the information learnt during the training programme to other fellow farmers so that a larger group gets benefitted.
Shri G. Tarai, GM, NABARD, Father Evans Sauras, Director, ACANI and Dr. H.R. Ranganath, Pr. Scientist from IIHR, Bangalore were the Guests of honour and also spoke on the occasion, which was attended by Head of the Division and PC, KVKs.
Dr. S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Incharge, Social Science at the outset welcomed the guests and informed that the training capsule will be covering information on ‘New Horizons in Horticulture for Nutritional and Employment Security’ ‘Improving Rice Productivity of A & N Islands through Improved Variety’, ‘Soil health management and composting technique ‘, ‘Food Security through Tubers’, ‘Innovation in Vegetable Production’ and ‘Use repairs and maintenance of farm machineries by the Scientists of CARI and Subject Matter Specialist of KVK. Beside visit to Dweep Krishi Darpan, Group Task, Feedback and presentation has also been incorporated in the training capsule. A total of twenty two farmers are attending the programme. The inaugural programme came to an end with vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Amit Srivastava, STO, CARI.
